ಕಾಲನರಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಬ್ಬದೌತಣ
ನೊಂದವರು, ಬೆಂದವರು
ಕರಿನೆರಳ ಮುಖದವರು
ಅಪಶ್ರುತಿಯ ಹಿಡಿದವರು
ಕಲ್ಯಾಣಿ ನುಡಿದವರು
ಹೊಸಗೀತೆ ಬರೆದವರು
ಬಲ್ಲಿದರು, ಮಾಂತ್ರಿಕರು
ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಬರುತಿಹರು!!
ಮೃತ್ಯು ಮಂಟಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಂಪು ತರ್ಪಣ
ಕಣ್ಣೀರ ಕೊಡ ಹೊತ್ತು
ಬದುಕನ್ನು ಅರಿತವರು
ರುದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಿ ಹಿಡಿಯದೆಯೆ
ಋಷಿಯ ಒಳಹೊಕ್ಕವರು
ಕಲಬೆರಕೆ ಹೆಣ್ಣುಗಳ
ತೊಡೆಗಳಲಿ ಮೆರೆದವರು
ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಸೇರಿಹರು!!
ಭೂಮಿ ಬಸುರಿನ ಒಳಗೆ ಜೀವ ನರ್ತನ
ಮುಗ್ಧ ನಗುವನು ಹೊತ್ತು
ಹಾಲ್ಗನಸ ಹೆಣೆಯುವರು
ಹಸಿರು ಜೋಕಾಲಿಯಲಿ
ಹೂಗಳನು ಹರಡುವರು
ಪ್ರೇಮ ಕವಿತೆಯ ಬಿಸಿಗೆ
ಮುತ್ತಿನಲೆ ಕರಗುವರು
ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಕುಣಿಯುವರು!!

ಹೊಸ ಕವಿತೆ ಓದಿ ಸಮಯ ಮರೆತೆ.
ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯೆ ಕೊಡದೆ, ಎರಡು ಮಾತಾಡದೆ,
ಹೇಗೆ ಹೋಗಲಿ ಮನೆಗೆ?
ಶುಭ ಹರಸದೆ ನಿನಗೆ?
ಹೊಸ ವರುಷ ಹರುಷದಾಯಕವಾಗಿರಲಿ.
ಸುಖ, ಸಂತಸ, ಶಾಂತಿ ತರಲಿ,
ನಗು ಹಬ್ಬಲಿ, ಬಿಗು ತಗ್ಗಲಿ,
ಸಮೃದ್ಧಿಯ ಆಪ್ತ ತೋಳು ಎಲ್ಲರನು ತಬ್ಬಲಿ.

ಹೊಸವರ್ಷದ ಹೊಸಕವನ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿದೆ.
೨೦೦೮ರಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮಗೆ, ನಿಮಗೆ ಬೇಕಾದವರೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೆ,
ಕೇಳದಿರಲಿ ಅಪಶ್ರುತಿ
ಬಾಳಾಗಲಿ ಮೋಹನ,

Excellent cacth. Actually, there are no more verses. BUT, I intentionally left the poem there, as if there were more lines. Not bad, someone caught that

First and second stanzas pretty much sum up the evil and the sorrow. The last stanza has ‘hope’ and the poem seems incomplete….that was the goal. It doesn’t mean hope is incomplete, it just means there is so much more we can look forward too, and (at least) my pen defeats me in describing them all.
As you may have seen, I tend to blah and blah on way too many different topics from sports to politics. Thus, when I write in English, I get a lot of healthy and interesting responses. Helps in ‘enrichment of knowledge’. As for my own creative writing, I certainly prefer Kannada. (I guess that roughly translates to whatever I write in English is junk
).
And, a very Happy New Year to you too.
