Husband and Wife Quarrel Until They Eat and Sleep

A friend of mine wanted me to write a small article on what I think is the meaning of this Kannada proverb. Here’s my take:

[If you can’t read the Kannada Font below, try this :

In IE, select the following menu option :

View->Encoding->Unicode(UTF8)

And for you slackers, I have a JPG below. Click on it to open the file.]

  2. decemberstud Says:

  6. bachodi Says:

    Same here.,
Cant read even after doing View->Encoding->Unicode(UTF8)

  7. decemberstud Says:

@ rk and bachodi : I have a JPG up. Click it and enjoy 🙂

@ Veena : I am not sure if my wife has read the post yet. But, I did tell her the gist of it when I posted it. Now that you have used the word “A-rated” in your comment, I bet even the folks who don’t know Kannada would be wondering what the post is all about …LOL. Yep, I do agree with you that heart goes with mind. But, if you look at it objectively, I still think my explanation of this ‘gAde’ holds good. Well, there are tons of idiot husbands who misuse everything….so, let’s not even go there….

@ Srik : Yep, it is a ‘simple state of mind’. Glad you agree with me 😉

  8. Veena Shivanna Says:

Glad that you agree there can be an ‘Idiot husband’.. Somebody sent me an SMS asking what is the similarity between ‘some-non-existant-entity’ and a ‘nice-wife’ and the answer was ‘Both doesn’t exist’ in the universe.!!

I just smiled at it.. It may be true for some, ella kade ella tarahada jana kooDa irtaare. Unicode fonts problem permanent aagi solve aagbekaadre, ond sala baraha install maadidre aayitu. It will take care of it. I had read RK’s comment & fwd’ed it to him yesterday afternoon.

Srik, enaaaaaapa ?? ‘Bachelor’ en samchaara ? 😉

  9. rk Says:

    d-stud,
thanks for putting up the image. (veena came to your blog, read my comment and fwd-ed me an image of this post. nice of her). mattomme, nanna haagu itarara eederikeyanna pooraisi post odhuva baayarikeyannu ingisiddakke vandanegalu!

btw, about the post: i was reading in a chil psychology book that husband and wife must never fight in front of kids. so, i have re-phrased the gaadhe as:
GANDA HENDIRA JAGALA GUNDA YELO TANAKA!

  10. Srik Says:

    Oh! Veena,
I said, I guess its right, I dont have that experience alwa, adikke guess aste 🙂
U donn need to find fish in my reaction. 😀

  11. decemberstud Says:

@ Veena : Thanks for sending the JPG to RK. Yes, you are right, there are all kinds of people in this world. It’s hard to please everyone. My goal is simple. I make sure people who are very close to me are not hurt by any of my actions. That takes care of things for me and I strongly argue that, that is the right approach. Thanks for your comments.

@ RK : LOL RK, that is a very nice and apt change !!! Beware though, Veena may take objection on ‘guMDa’ and she may want to change it to ‘guMDamma’ 😉 (I am just teasing you Veena….). Oh, and RK, as Veena pointed out, you really need to download Baraha.

@ Srik : lO guruvE, Enayya ninna samAchAra ? Comments tuMba bari smiley gaLe hAki dialogue hoDItidyalla 😉

  13. decemberstud Says:

    Veena,

I agree with you, it’s ahrder in India. You become the bad guy when you try to mind your own business. But, things have changed and things are changing. In the long run, I guess my approach helps…at least that’s what I believe in.

Veena, a few people already knew who I was….join the club 🙂 But, I will try hard and continue to be “anonymous” 😉

  17. decemberstud Says:

…and Veena, I hope you had a good conversation. I sure like him 😉

  18. Veena Shivanna Says:

DS, to avoid some more people joining the club, you can remove the link added by Sham. Otherwise people will follow it & is a free way for the Club 🙂

  19. decemberstud Says:

    Veena,

I thought of that…but then no fun in removing comments…I will leave it there for a few more days 😉

    RK,

Sure, I will try to add more, that’s an interesting topic. Not everybody will agree with my perspective and it will be a lively debate 🙂

  22. Veena Shivanna Says:

Glad that I see most of the matured comments in your blog. That is an inspiration to revist again.
nimma baravaNige bagge compliments kodteeni.. namma Indian culture heLatte, when a person performs yaaga, the half of the havissu(??) will automaticaly go to his wife.
