Light

I just signed a consent letter for using one of my poems in an album. This time I am sure the music will be really nice since the music director is one of my favorites.

Here’s the song…oooops, just the lyrics:

Reading all these comments makes me want to understand it. Would it be possible for you to translate, or how about reading it and putting up the audio? I sorta understand a wee bit of kannada.

    Please? 🙂

    d.s.:

congrats (of course) – who is this ‘one of my favorites’ music director?

    – s.b.

  10. Could appreciate this much better than your last poem. It has good meaning too and quite a simple and straight forward… Need not be verbatim rhymic though !

s.b , transiletaration and you just changed the scripts to hindi. Hope it helps the person who requested.
My guess on the music director – the one from california MM 🙂

  11. rk Says:

    ds,
    sakkatthagide guru!
    odhi khushiyaaythu.

  12. @ Aram:
Just ದೀಪ, the light. The actual name is different 🙂

    @ Vittal / pArijAta neela:
    Thanks

    @ Sushruta:
    Thanks guru….

    @ Srik:
LOL…I wish. I guess such things happen only when I produce the movie 😉

    @ Rads:
SB has tranliterated here, will that work? I can translate it, but I am sure it will lose out the original touch. It has always happened.

    @ suparna:
Ahh, thanks. I heard Yogaraj Bhat is all set to shoot ‘Mungaaru Male-2’. On that note, I have to tell you that I watched ‘Mungaaru Male’ last weekend.

    @ praneshachar:
dhanyavAdagaLu. album release Ada mEle khaMDita tiListIni.

    @ SB:
Thanks 🙂 Yep, it’s almost right, except for the first word in the last line and the last word in the line before that. Now, did you understand the poem?

You still haven’t figured me out, have you? I don’t take names on this blog, do I? Well, the best I can say is that since this poem is not for kids, they may have PG rating on the cover of the album. Go figure 🙂

    @ Veena:
Thank you. Not all poems need to rhyme, but when it comes naturally, I like it. And no, not MM 🙂 I do like MM’s music a lot, though.

    @ RK:
    Thanks Shiva….nIvu doDDOru 😉

  13. rads Says:

    o awesome SB 🙂
Now if only I can make that font bigger, and get someone to clear some meanings. 🙂

DS – Now that you’ve said PG rating I can’t really ask my mom now can I? *confused*

  14. some body Says:

    d.s.:

“Now, did you understand the poem?”

i understood the gist of it, i think/hope/trust! obviously, i did not get the meaning of each word, but then i have been lazy and am yet to consult my kannada-english dictionary :-).

“You still haven’t figured me out, have you? I don’t take names on this blog, do I? Well, the best I can say is that since this poem is not for kids, they may have PG rating on the cover of the album. Go figure ”

the only figure i am coming up with is a big (naked eye friendly) 0!

a few weeks ago, i was reading a famous singer’s blog, and she was unhappy that because she was famous, people would come and try to a) get her to sing a song, and/or b) talk to her though there was nothing they had in common (i am not saying whose that blog is because i don’t remember exactly what was written, so it is better if i do not name the person – alternatively, i would have provided a link, but i don’t remember when exactly that post was written, and that is a blog that i don’t read regularly, plus i am feeling lazy right now).

anyway, my point in all this is that it is easier to talk with you as just another ‘आम आदमी’ than some high falutin kavi/author/you-name-it! having said all that, even if you reveal your name (or anyone else does), i can assure you that it will not ring a bell because i have no clue of the famous kannada literary personalities. this is really a case of ‘समझने वाले समझ गए हैं …’ 🙂 [note that i stopped short of calling myself an अनाड़ी!]

    rads:

view –> text size –> max (that should make the font bigger). as for translation, i could try, but i will be in trouble among the readers of this blog – better to keep my trap shut than open it and … yada yada yada!

“Now that you’ve said PG rating I can’t really ask my mom now can I?”

you know what pg stands for, don’t you? 😉

    – s.b.

  15. @ Rads:
As SB said, you do know what PG means, don’t you? At least, the more common meaning…..;)

    @ SB:
You better talk with me as just another common man because I AM one. (hmmm aam in Hindi and AM in English, pretty close..hee hee). And, since you already know my name anyway, it really doesn’t matter, does it? 😉

But, you did rake my interest in that singer’s blog. If at all you remember the link, post it sometime.

  16. rads Says:

hahaha, I know, after I typed it, I realized how dumb that sounded./ Well, all I suppose I meant is I really don’t share that kinda camaraderie with my mom so just wasn’t sure, and getting her to read this from across oceans would require way too much work. I’d rather find someone locally. 🙂

sb – thanks so much for your effort 🙂

ds, sb – I did read it last night and re-read it a zillion times. I kinda sorta get it, but you know one of you should do the ‘noble’ deed and translate it. Be nice to us non-kannadigas and do it? 🙂

  17. Congrats kaNayya!!

First stanza says it all……..You and Your poems mean a lot to me.

  18. Shiv Says:

    DS,

    ಹೇಗಿದೀರಾ?
    ಅಭಿನಂದನೆಗಳು ಕಣ್ರೀ..
    ಹಾಡು ಮುದ್ದಾಗಿದೆ..

  19. @ Rads:
Someday I probably willt ranslate it. I have tried a few and have realized that the translations do not do justice to the original.

    @ VH:
    Thanks guruve…

    @ Shiv:
Welcome back. maduve, honeymoon, ityAdi ityAdi ellA mugItA? Thank you.
